The Northern Ireland Grain Trade Association (NIGTA) has raised £6,120 for Rural Support, the only farm support charity dedicated to serving the farming and rural community across Northern Ireland.
The funds were raised during the 59th NIGTA Annual Dinner, held on 16th April 2026, where Rural Support was selected as NIGTA President Aidan Fisher’s chosen charity.
The donation recognises the invaluable work carried out by Rural Support in providing practical and emotional assistance to farmers and rural families facing stress, isolation, financial hardship, bereavement, and mental health challenges. Through its confidential support line, outreach services, and education programmes, the charity continues to play a vital role within the local agricultural community.
Many NIGTA members have also benefitted directly from Rural Support’s “Boots on the Ground” training initiative, which helps individuals across the agri-food sector identify and support people experiencing mental health difficulties.
Speaking on behalf of NIGTA, President Aidan Fisher said, “Rural Support provides an essential service for our farming community and the work they do across Northern Ireland is hugely important. As the only farm support charity in Northern Ireland, they offer vital help and guidance to many people during difficult times.
“We are delighted to support Rural Support through this year’s charity fundraising efforts, and I would sincerely like to thank all our members and their guests for their generosity and support. Their contributions have helped to raise a fantastic amount for a very worthy cause.”
Keelin Reilly, Rural Support CEO added, “We are very grateful to NIGTA, President Aidan Fisher, and everyone who contributed so generously at the NIGTA Annual Dinner. Support from organisations such as NIGTA enables us to continue delivering our vital services and supporting farming and rural families throughout Northern Ireland.”
The presentation of the donation highlights the strong commitment within NIGTA and the wider agri-food industry to supporting wellbeing and resilience across the rural community.
